Abstract

Very few poets have explored existential concerns as fully as Kathleen Jamie has in her poetry by directly challenging and contrasting competing worldviews. Her writings defy categorization and explore a wide range of cultural themes. Allegory, spirituality, mythology, contemplation of human values and moral philosophy, examination of human life, and meditation on the natural world are some of the topics covered in her collections. She is at home in both Western and Eastern cultural circles, and she adeptly seeks answers within a variety of theoretical frameworks. Martin Heidegger acted as a catalyst in influencing her poetic view. Deep questions into the nature of humanity and the meaning of belonging that go beyond narrow national categories of customs, geography, and culture. It adds to the study value of Jamie's poetry.
