The Concept of the Student-Centered Approach and its Main Principles

This article explores the concept of the student-centered approach as one of the key directions in modern pedagogy and analyzes its main principles. The study highlights the shift from teacher-centered instruction to a learner-focused educational process, where students’ needs, interests, abilities, and individual characteristics are taken into account. Particular attention is paid to the core principles of the approach, including activity, independence, individualization, and motivation. The paper also examines the theoretical foundations of the student-centered approach, drawing on humanistic pedagogy and constructivist theory. The findings demonstrate that this approach enhances learners’ engagement, promotes critical thinking, and fosters the development of autonomous and responsible individuals. Furthermore, the integration of interactive methods, digital technologies, and differentiated instruction is shown to significantly increase the effectiveness of the learning process.
